Change

If I keep doing what I have been doing, then I will keep getting what I have been getting.

My Dad always told me, “You take a horse to water, but you cannot make that horse drink.” I did not really understand that quote, until I was much older and my Dad was no longer with me. I think about him often and all the lessons that he tried to teach me, but being young and illiterate of life, what he tried to teach me I simply did not have the knowledge to grasp and understand. BUT, I believe I could have done what he asked me to do, rather than argue or giving him a difficult time, because I thought I knew better. I could have just gone through the motions and learned on what he requested me to do. Because I could not understand the benefit of the ask, and I just did not understand, I defied his requests. Now I understand, what he meant by the horse quote. He was taking me to the water, but he could not make me drink. 😔 (remorse)

I wonder where I would be in life if I listened to his teachings. Now that I am of age and know better, I understand that my Dad knew from experience in what he was trying to teach me, so I would not have to go through the tough times that he went through. If I only had listened and practiced what he preached, I would have probably avoided the mistakes and be much more comfortable in life, rather than struggling to be where he wanted me to be, and where I wish I would be today.

As the old saying goes, “Youth is wasted on the young, and wisdom is wasted on the old.” 😭

A shout-out to my wise Dad. I L❤️VE and MISS YOU DEARLY! 😢

I will not let you down!
